| أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ ﴿١﴾ |
| Alam nashrah laka sadrak |
| Have We not expanded for you, [O Muhammad], your chest? |
| وَوَضَعْنَا عَنكَ وِزْرَكَ ﴿٢﴾ |
| Wa wada’na ‘anka wizrak |
| And We removed from you your burden |
| ٱلَّذِي أَنقَضَ ظَهْرَكَ ﴿٣﴾ |
| Alladhee anqada zahrak |
| Which had weighed upon your back |
| وَرَفَعْنَا لَكَ ذِكْرَكَ ﴿٤﴾ |
| Wa rafa’na laka dhikrak |
| And raised high for you your repute |
| فَإِنَّ مَعَ ٱلْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا ﴿٥﴾ |
| Fa inna ma’al ‘usri yusra |
| For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease |

(1) Have We not expanded for you, [O Muhammad], your chest?
(2) And We removed from you your burden

This Surah was revealed in Makkah to console the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) during a time of difficulty and sadness.
