Tafseer (Ibn Kathir Summary)
Surah Al-Kawthar was revealed to comfort the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) when his enemies mocked him for having no surviving sons. Ibn Kathir explains that Al-Kawthar refers to abundant الخير (good), including a river in Paradise, prophethood, the Qur’an, and immense blessings in this world and the Hereafter. Allah commands sincere prayer and sacrifice as gratitude, and declares that the Prophet’s enemies are the ones truly cut off from honor and legacy.
