Surah Al-Infitar English Transliteration (Ayah 1–19)

• 1. Izas samaa’u infatarat
• 2. Wa izal kawaakibu intatharat
• 3. Wa izal bihaaru fujjirat
• 4. Wa izal qubooru bu‘thirat
• 5. ‘Alimat nafsum maa qaddamat wa akhkharat
• 6. Yaa ayyuhal insaanu maa gharraka birabbikal kareem
• 7. Allazee khalaqaka fasawwaaka fa‘adalak
• 8. Fee ayyi sooratin maa shaa’a rakkabak
• 9. Kallaa bal tukazziboona bid-deen

Surah Al-Infitar English Translation (Ayah 1–19)

• 1. When the sky breaks apart.
• 2. And when the stars fall, scattering.
• 3. And when the seas are erupted.
• 4. And when the graves are overturned.
• 5. A soul will know what it has put forth and kept back.
• 6. O mankind, what has deceived you concerning your Generous Lord?
• 7. Who created you, proportioned you, and balanced you.
• 8. In whatever form He willed has He assembled you.
• 9. No! But you deny the Recompense.
• 10. And indeed, over you are keepers.
• 11. Noble and recording.
• 12. They know whatever you do.
• 13. Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure.
• 14. And indeed, the wicked will be in Hellfire.
• 15. They will enter to burn therein on the Day of Recompense.
• 16. And never therefrom will they be absent.
• 17. And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
• 18. Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense?
• 19. It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul any power, and the command that Day is entirely with Allah.

Tafseer of Surah Al-Infitar (Ibn Kathir Summary)

Surah Al-Infitar describes the powerful events that will occur on the Day of Judgment. The Surah begins by mentioning the breaking of the sky, the scattering of stars, the bursting of seas, and the overturning of graves. These dramatic changes highlight the transformation of the universe when the final hour arrives.

The Surah reminds humanity that despite Allah’s kindness and generosity, many people become deceived and neglect their responsibilities. Allah created human beings perfectly and blessed them with life, yet some still deny the Day of Judgment.

Allah also mentions the angels who record every action of human beings. These noble angels write down everything a person does. On the Day of Judgment, these deeds will determine whether a person will enter Paradise or Hellfire. The Surah ends by emphasizing that on that Day no soul will have power to help another, and all authority will belong to Allah alone.
